Marais Project

  • Royal Hotel 80 Dowling Street Dungog, NSW, 2420 Australia (map)

Swedish-Australian classical crossover group The Marais Project returns to The Royal on Saturday 20 April, as a trio featuring Melody Beck (vocals), Jenny Eriksson (electric viola da gamba), and Siebe Pogson (keyboard/bass).

The ‘Autumn Leaves’  tour celebrates the change of seasons with a fabulous night of music that effortlessly blends classic jazz ballads with Piaf songs, a few classical music moments, and original numbers by band members.

The recently formed ‘MJS Trio’  brings together the wide-ranging vocal talents of Melody Beck, respected pianist/bassist and composer, Siebe Pogson and one of Australia’s leading viola da gambists, the genre-hopping Jenny Eriksson. Jenny plays Australia’s only electric viola da gamba, a 7-string instrument like the cello, but with frets!

Trained in music theatre and classical singing, Melody’s career highlights include winning the 'Your Theatrics International Cabaret Contest', which toured through Australia and New York with her cabaret show UNSEEN: The Voice of Hollywood, A tribute to Marni Nixon. Siebe appears in projects across a range of genres and recently completed his Master of Jazz at Liceau Conservatorium in Barcelona. He has released three highly regarded albums of original jazz/funk music. Jenny has performed across Australia and in Sweden, Germany, Singapore, The Netherlands, New Zealand and once before in Dungog with her ‘Nordic Moods & Baroque Echoes’ tour.
